The Kingston News Blog: Assemblyman Cahill Secures $2 Million Grant for Community Center

Lawmaker Works With Community Organizations to Reclaim Local Building

Kingston – Assemblymember Kevin Cahill (D-Ulster/Dutchess) announced a collaborative effort with the Catholic Archdiocese of New York, Catholic Charities, St. Mary's and St. Peter's parishes, the Catholic Youth Organization and Agri-Business Child Development to transform the former St. Peter's School, on Adams Street in Kingston, into a facility that will serve as the focal point of educational and recreational services in the community. The building will be renovated using $2.15 million in funding Assemblyman Cahill secured in the 2008-09 State Budget. Once completed, the facility will offer child care and development services, a youth recreation center, and provide facilities for a food pantry. Read more.

Kingston Public Access Tv - General start date moved 1 week to 10/12/2009

Public Access Tv Control Room

An email from the Kingston Public Access Tv, KAPAC Chair, Mercedes Ross.

Dear Producers,

We had another successful test of our station yesterday. The broadcast of prerecorded shows worked in the same way it has for the last two studio spaces. So, the good news is that no instruction will be needed for producers who had a show when the station went off the air.

In regard to the live broadcast test that we did last Monday, the signal test (audio & video) was a success but the equipment still needs some additional set up so more testing may be needed (not to mention cleaning & dusting). If you would like to be involved in the testing and set up, please let me know. We can always use the help especially if you have some technical skills or a truck.

The calendar is working but we need an antivirus software before it can be updated again. I will be talking to Jeremy Ellenbogen on Monday morning regarding this and if needed I will buy the software myself.

For those who have asked, the new location is in the heart of Midtown Kingston at 721 Broadway (the former RNN building) and it is the building we were in before the Sterling Street location. If you remember our RNN location, we will be entering from the Seven21 parking lot and not Liberty Street..

I hope many of you will be able to attend our regular meeting this Thursday at City Hall. We will have copies of the new building rules and should be able to finalize our new beginning.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all

Mercedes KAPAC Chair
I recommend: UPDATE the cpu, memory and operating system first on the calendar before buying the antivirus software.

To Mayor James Sottile, On March 30, 2008 an entry on the former blog "Ulster County Politics"

On March 30, 2008 an entry on the former blog "Ulster County Politics" (http://ulstercounty.blogspot.com/) contained a false statement titled "Mayor Sottile to be indicted for Bid Rigging". This blog entry was false. The blog entry has been removed and the blogspot was deleted.

I recieved an unknown letter in the mail at my home address with no return address. This letter contained the blog entry above. I didn't really read or understand this letter. I then scanned it into my computer and posted it into my blog. This was a bad decision on my part because I should have thrown the letter away. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience I have caused.

Sincerely,
Clark Richters
