Kingston Lions Foundation awards $3,000 to the Queens Galley

After a luncheon presentation by Diane Reeder of the Queens Galley, the Kingston Lions Foundation Board discussed the dire situation of the Queens Galley, now celebrating 10 years feeding the needy. With the need of Sandy victims many contributions that would have gone to Queens Galley went to the severely damaged areas.  The Galley did not make its payroll last week and was facing layoffs right before Thanksgiving. The Queens Galley does not get any government funding and relies strictly on public donations to keep the Galley open. They currently provide 10,000 meals a month. It is hoped that providing $3,000 would cover payroll(Diane is a volunteer and does not get paid) and keep the facility open through Thanksgiving.  It is hoped that this funding will give Diane some breathing room to get funding for the balance of the year. To mail contributions they are located at Queens Galley 254 Washington Ave., Kingston, NY
