Homicide Investigation in Kingston, NY Update: November 2, 2019


The Kingston Police Department is presently investigating a homicide that occurred at 38 West O’Reilly Street. On November 1, 2019 at about 2:00 AM the Kingston Police Department received a call from a resident reporting a possible homicide. Officers responded, secured the scene, began administering first aid to a male victim. The victim was transported by EMS to Health Alliance Broadway Campus where he was pronounced dead. The victim is a 36-year-old male from Kingston. His name is being withheld at this time until family can make appropriate notifications. The Kingston Police Department is being assisted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police. ******NOVEMBER 2, 2019 UPDATE******

On November 1, 2019 around 2:05 AM members of the Kingston Police Department responded to 38 West O’Reilly St. A female called reporting someone had killed a male in the residence. Upon arrival, officers found the reporting female outside the residence stating that the male victim, Myron Moye Jr, had been shot and was inside the residence. Officers initiated first aid and chest compressions on Myron Moye Jr until EMS arrived. 

Witnesses described three African-American males, between 20-30 years-old, wearing dark clothing and sneakers leaving the residence. The suspects are furthered described as follows:

#1 – 5’8”-6’0” tall, thin build, medium complexion
#2 – 5’5”-5’8”, heavier build possibly 250 lbs, light skinned
#3 – Shorter than other two with a thin build

We are asking the public in the area of West O’Reilly St, Broadway and Mary’s Avenue to check their security cameras for any unusual or suspicious persons/vehicles in that area on November 1, 2019 between 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM.

We are continuing to investigate the October 24, 2019 homicide (Daniel Thomas) as we investigate this most current one. The Kingston Police Department is being assisted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) and Major Crimes Unit (MCU). The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Ulster Police Department assisted the day of the crime.
