Opened in 1921, the Wurts Street (Port Ewen) Bridge is the ONLY suspension bridge in New York State under the maintenance of the NYSDOT. About 5000 cars per day use the bridge. In 1980 it was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Where's Kingston Public Access TV - Channel 23 is now under Esopus Community TV 23. The City of Kingston receives $405,000 from cable franchise fees from the cable subscribers, and doesn't direct any funds to the public access station. 

The City's Cable Franchise Agreement is still being negotiated and has expired since 2016 with Spectrum. Franchise agreement should include a Studio, Channel lineup, rates and a budget line for Public Access Television. https://www.facebook.com/KingstonTV23/

Fourth of July Weekend Motorcade for Essential Workers on Sunday, July 5, 2020 #UlsterCounty #KingstonNY

KINGSTON, NY – Mayor Steven T. Noble is pleased to announce that there will be a Fourth of July Weekend Motorcade for Essential Workers on Sunday, July 5 at 4:00pm.

This year, in lieu of the traditional Fourth of July fireworks display, the City of Kingston – and other municipalities across Ulster County -- will participate in a coordinated parade of vehicles. The celebration is intended to honor and celebrate essential and frontline workers, and will include driving past essential workplaces to show support.

The Motorcade will be led by the Kingston Fire Department and Kingston Police Department, along with City officials and community groups. Decorating of vehicles is encouraged. Any family, group or organization who would like to participate, can register here.

Line-up will begin at 3:30pm at Dietz stadium parking lot, and the motorcade will begin at 4:00pm. Registrants will be sent more information on the route and other details.

“We hope everyone will spend a safe Fourth of July holiday with their loved ones and visit the many shops and restaurants that are re-opening,” said Mayor Noble. “The motorcade gives us an opportunity to extend the festivities and celebrate all the essential workers who have our kept our community running during this challenging time. They have truly been heroes, and we appreciate everyone who put their health and safety on the line for their community. On July 5, we will honk our horns and show our gratitude!

PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE: Kingston barbershop with COVID-19 positive employee has been operating illicitly

County health officials recommend anyone who has received a haircut at a Kingston barber shop on Broadway in the past three weeks promptly seek testing for the coronavirus.

KINGSTON, N.Y. - Ulster County Health Commissioner Dr. Carol Smith announced today that a Kingston barber who has been providing haircuts during the last few weeks at a barbershop on Broadway has tested positive this week for the COVID-19 virus. Anyone who has received a haircut in a Kingston barbershop in the last three weeks is urged to promptly contact their primary care physician and seek testing, or contact the Ulster County COVID-19 hotline at (845) 443-8888. During the ongoing New York Pause directives from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, no barbershops, beauty salons, nail salons or other personal hygiene services are allowed to be open and operating for fear of spreading the potentially deadly virus.

 “We are taking extraordinary measures to try and minimize the spread of this dangerous disease and learning that a barbershop has been operating illicitly for weeks with a COVID-19 positive employee is extraordinarily disheartening,” said Dr. Smith. “As much as we would all like to go out and get a professional haircut, this kind of direct contact has the potential to dramatically spread this virus throughout our community and beyond. I urge anyone who has received a haircut at a Kingston barber in the last several weeks to immediately contact their physician or call our hotline to arrange for a diagnostic test.”
